Today, I thought about how my life has evolved over the past few years. In order to do that, I had to revisit the painful memories of my past. Although, I must admit, I am confident now through my faith in God, that my past allowed me to walk into my future. Back then, I was merely existing, walking on this beautiful earth and not knowing what my purpose for this journey of life was. I tried joining every young adult ministry at my local church and a host of other extra activities and hobbies to keep me busy, until I found my "nitch".
I believe it came to me in a vision. What, you ask? My purpose in life! I believe firmly that God whispered in my ear, "Choose life over the death of your situations. Choose to live in abundance, with meaning and leaving behind a legacy for people, daily". Take it from me, don't allow defeat, regection, guilt, shame or any other barrier that will block your path of choosing to live a healthy life.
For those of you who are victims of domestic violence, CHOOSE LIFE instead of a deadly situation and/or relationship. Think about making that first step into your future, just as I did, a few years ago. One step will always allow you to make another, after another, until you reach a safe haven for yourself and those around you that you love.
As for survivors, I humble myself while appreciating your time and support that you share with others. Your leading by example, have tremendously shown which option you chose and how you continue to choose life, daily.
